Urbana business buys new location in Danville
DANVILLE – Almost three years ago, the Urbana-based Ohana Pools Spas and Billiards store opened a new location in Danville. The expansion has been a success, so Ohana has bought a new site in Danville.
“We leased, because we didn’t know how the store would go. But we have built up a pretty good client base over there. We’re happy with everything,” said Ginger Spillers, president of Ohana, which has its main location at 105 E. University Ave., U, and a third store in Mahomet.
Since coming to Danville, Ohana has operated out of a building it leased at 401 N. Gilbert St., but this week, it moved to its new location, 440 N. Vermilion St. Ohana bought the building at the corner of North Vermilion and Williams streets from Win C. Smith, who once operated the Win C. Smith Chevrolet car dealership on that block.
The North Vermilion Street location was also home to the Toyota of Danville car dealership that moved from there to Tilton several years ago.
Ohana has made some improvements to the building, tearing out some walls, doing work on the roof and plumbing system and installing new countertops. Even though some renovation work is still being done, the new location is open to customers, said Store Manager Angie Sliva. The old building has been completely vacated, and the owners are looking for a buyer or another business to lease the site.
Sliva said the new building is about the same size as the previous one, but the floor plan is better, more open and with more windows, allowing for better display of products.

“The whole front of the building is windows, so it’s perfect to display our hot tubs and pool tables,” she said.
Spillers said Ohana sells and installs in-ground and above-ground pools, hot tubs, billiard tables and dart boards and sells billiard and dart board accessories. Recently, the company has started selling tanning beds and saunas as well. Ohana is a full-service store for all makes of hot tubs. It services pools and does a lot of maintenance and pool openings and closings.
