Paxton Record weekly newspaper’s Web site debuts
PAXTON – After 143 years of the Paxton Record being printed exclusively on paper, it is now available on your computer screen.
The Paxton Record has launched its Web site at www.paxtonrecord.net. It will serve as the “community Web site,” said Tim Evans, general manager of the News-Gazette Community Newspapers Division.
“You should be able to go on this Web site and be able to find out about everything in the town and the area, including the schools, the chamber of commerce, Main Street program, whatever,” Evans said. “It’s a way for people to find out instant and accurate information.”
There is a link on the Paxton Record Web site to information about community groups. Links have also been set up to the sites of the Illinois Central Historical Society, the cities of Paxton and Gibson City, the Paxton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Paxton-Buckley-Loda and Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley school districts. More links can be added by calling the office at 379-2356.
The Web site will feature breaking news as well as cancellations because of bad weather.
Obituaries will be updated as soon as they arrive in the office on weekdays and when staff members are in on weekends. Classified s are also posted, along with forms for engagement, birth or anniversary announcements.
The Record’s site will also link to all of the sites of The News-Gazette and its affiliates.
